Producers Direct is our sister charity. It’s independent and led by farmers, for farmers.

Many small-scale farmers in poverty because they have little control over the price of their goods. Producers Direct work to change this.

We invest in Producers Direct, whose innovative work has reached over 1.3 million farmers and their families.

Investing in farmers from the beginning

Before Producers Direct, we supported farmers through our Producer Partnership Programme, where cooperatives decided how to use the funds.

The programme backed projects like:

  • Achieving Fairtrade certification
  • Switching to energy-efficient heating
  • Training to improve coffee quality
  • Building quality control facilities
  • Providing disaster relief funds

To date, £7.5 million has supported farmer programmes and initiatives.
